If there was such a term as a “flagship gauge” this would be it. This multi gauge is hand crafted from the wood case to the internal gauge works (clock works). The gauge is designed to hang on the wall and give the observer a quick account of the current and forecast conditions. The big gauge shows the current temperature as observed by your Tempest Weather System. The smaller two temperature gauges in the top half of the gauge face show the forecast high and forecast low temperature for the day. The bottom gauge is really two gauges in one. The first gauge to the left side of zero is the chance of precipitation for the day. The second gauge on the right side of zero is the accumulated precipitation observed during the day.
The round wood case is a handmade segmented turning and the design and dimensions will very slightly with each case. You have several options to choose from and more will be added. The wood for the case comes in African Padauk (pinkish orange color), South American Purpleheart (eggplant purple color), White Oak (light to medium brown) and good ole Black Walnut from Illinois, USA (dark brown color). Padauk and Purpleheart will change color over time (faster if exposed to sunlight). All cases are hand sanded and finished on the inside and outside with a friction polish made of Denatured Alcohol, Transparent Shellac, and Boiled Linseed Oil. The outside may be also finished with a Carnauba Wax. All my cases are real wood. If you have allergies to wood please take appropriate precautions.
The gauge’s diameter is approximately 12” with a depth of 2”. There is a groove cut into the backside of the case allowing it to hang on a nail. Each of the gauges take 3 AAA batteries for a total of 12 AAA batteries (not included) with an expected battery life of 5 years.
The values displayed by the gauges will be updated about every 5 minutes. This Gauge requires a WallGauge Gauge Data Transmitter (GDT) to be 20 feet away or closer and in clear line of site. One GDT can source several gauges so if you already have a GDT in the room you can use that GDT to send data to this gauge.
You must have a Tempest Weather System installed and connected to the WeatherFlow cloud for this gauge to work. The GDT will run our Tempest Weather gauge app to communicate with the WeatherFlow cloud API. During setup you will be required to enter an API key giving the GDT permission to connect to your weather data.
Some of the plastic parts inside the gauge are made of Expanded Polyvinyl Chloride.
